Danielle Williams is the Founder of DiversifyOutdoors.com and the Senior Editor of Melanin Base Camp®, an outdoor blog with a monthly readership of 50K and an active community of 80K on Instagram. She's been a strong advocate for diversity in the outdoors since 2014 when she co-founded Team Blackstar Skydivers. Since 2018, Danielle has been busy building a network of outdoor diversity and inclusion organizations, advocates and influencers around the hashtag #DiversifyOutdoors, which has been used over 100k times on Instagram. As an African American disabled skydiver with over 600 jumps, she's happiest when subverting stereotypes while fighting for greater visibility for People of Color in the outdoors. Her love of adventure sports began in 2006 when the Army threw her out of her first plane. Danielle graduated from Harvard in 2008 and spent the next ten years in the U.S. Army with deployments in Iraq and the Philippines. During that time she was influential in growing Team Blackstar from six African American parachutists to a diverse group of 270 skydivers in six countries. On the weekends you can find her indulging her favorite outdoor therapy: barefoot skydiving or hiking in local and state parks.
