While exploring the outdoors two Latinas saw the lack of representation throughout trails in the area. They began inviting into the outdoors currently underserved and marginalized people with a primary focus on the Latino Community. While doing so they had conversations about why people don't go outside. Whether it was language, safety, or lack of knowledge- the need for advocacy and support was clear. Latinos Aventureros en las Carolinas is a group that strives to encourage Latinos and the BIPOC community to go outside. This is accomplished by creating opportunities. All of the events are free of cost unless a site has a fee. At the moment the group is looking for sponsors, educative opportunities, and supplies. In one year this group hosted 90 events- supporting over 500 people in enjoying the outdoors.
